Originally, I got into tutoring quite by accident, but it's been one of the best moves I've ever made. Teaching is such a rewarding job - especially such a useful subject like maths. I now have 12 years experience of private tuition and have seen hundreds of students reach success.
In addition to private tuition I've also been teaching students as part of the government’s National Tuition Programme, specialising in helping SEN students. I was also selected from thousands of NTP tutors to guest speak in a series of webinars by the Department for Education.
I was lucky that maths came quite naturally to me, I always enjoyed school and learning about new things. I was inspired throughout school by outstanding teachers; I remember some of their lessons well enough to be able to pass on to my own students.
With a well rounded education and a life rich with adventures, I continuously strive to pass on my knowledge and draw from my own experiences to create personalised, engaging lessons designed to push students to their full potential.
I started tutoring in my early 20s and a small age gap seemed to make students feel more comfortable and at ease in initial session; this allows a good rapport to be built. As I've become older I've tried to maintain my approachable, friendly and flexible teaching methods.
Many students need their confidence building within maths; I help to conquer their anxiety by identifying the exact root of the problem, establishing an understanding and working through example questions that get progressively more difficult until the penny drops.
I've managed to develop the knack of encouraging teenagers to create and maintain a revision schedule early enough to impact their final grades. We set achievable goals and realistic solutions to time management that makes revision less daunting.
I offer a range of different tutorials, either privately or in group settings and for all different ages and abilities - I'd like education outside of school to be accessible to as many people as possible. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
